Camel estuary
Living in Padstow
A small harbour on a beautiful estuary, with a food reputation that outgrew the town.

Padstow faces the Camel. Rock is the sandy spit across the water, the ferry is the local joke and the local road, and the harbour dries to mud and lobster pots. The food reputation is real and it has made the centre a destination rather than a corner shop.
The town is small. That is the charm and the constraint. There is not a deep jobs market, the lanes were not built for the traffic they now take, and a lot of the housing stock is used for holidays. Winter gives the streets back.
Live here for the estuary, the walking, and a harbour you can cross in five minutes. Do not live here expecting a quiet year-round high street or a wide choice of houses.
Who it suits. People who want estuary life and accept a small, expensive, seasonal place.
The catch. Few homes, high prices, and a summer in which the town you live in is also someone else's lunch booking.
